Johnson County Schools moving to virtual learning for all grades Thanksgiving week

School leaders in Johnson County, TN have announced all grades will move to virtual learning the week of Thanksgiving.

Superintendent Mischelle Simcox said in a message to families Thursday that the decision to move to remote instruction for the week of Nov. 23-25 is not related to an increase of COVID-19 cases in students, but rather a number of staff members that are currently quarantined or awaiting COVID test results.

The schedule for students in Johnson County will be completely virtual Nov. 23-25, while the school system plans to return to in-person instruction the following Monday, Nov. 30. The virtual learning will also allow all schools in the system to be deep cleaned.

“We will be delivering meals via bus routes only on Monday and Tuesday to any child under 18, as we did in August. All K-12 students will receive their assignments before leaving school on Friday,” Simcox said.
