UPDATE: Motion for witness testimony denied by FL judge in “Killer Clown” murder case
A Florida judge has denied a motion by prosecutors for key witness testimony in the case of a former Southwest Virginia woman and previous owner of Purple Cow in Kingsport, accused of dressing as a clown and killing a woman in 1990.
Sheila Keen Warren allegedly shot and killed Marlene Warren at her front door while dressed as a clown in Palm Beach County, FL in May of 1990, and despite the case going cold for years, it was reopened in 2014 by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, and Warren was arrested on murder charges in Washington County, VA in 2017.
Prosecutors filed a motion in Palm Beach County, FL court to get a pre-trial disposition from Jay Mullins, who according to court documents, is a crime scene technician and one of two men that were familiar with the vehicle that the state claims Warren used to drive to the crime scene.

The state needed Mullins to verify the evidence in the event he is unable to present it at trial for reasons such as he is unable to make it to trial because of the ongoing pandemic, which is temporarily scheduled to begin on April 9th, 2021.
That motion however, was rejected on Wednesday by Judge Joseph Marx. Prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty in the case.
