Wythe County man charged with malicious wounding following shooting in Max Meadows

A Southwest Virginia man just released from prison is jailed in Wythe County when a man came to a local hospital with a gunshot wound.

The victim told deputies that he was at the residence of Calvin Hunley on Blades Trail in Max Meadows when he was wounded. Officers went to the home and took Hunley into custody.

A subsequent search of Hunley’s dwelling turned up a shotgun and items consistent with meth distribution. A report from the Sheriff’s Office said Hunley is facing several charges including malicious wounding.
