Southwest Virginia Intensive Care Nurse To Become First Person In Region To Receive Vaccine

A registered nurse at a Southwest Virginia Hospital will be the first person in the region to receive the newly arrived COVID-19 vaccine. Ballad Health says, registered nurse, Emily Boucher of Johnston Memorial Hospital’s intensive care unit in Abingdon, Virginia will receive the shot Wednesday afternoon. Thousands of doses of the much anticipated vaccine arrived in the Commonwealth Monday. Front line workers will and nursing home residents will receive the vaccine first, followed by a second dose in about two weeks.
