TVA: 2020 marks wettest year on record for Tennessee Valley
The Tennessee Valley continues to break rainfall records as 2020 is now the wettest year on record for the region.
TVA officials say as of Monday, the valley has recorded over 68 inches of rain, surpassing a 2018 record of 67.01 inches of rain and a 2019 second most year of rainfall of 66.47 inches, marking three straight years of rainfall records. Prior to 2018, the old rain record stood for 45 years.
Between Oct. 1, 2019 and Sept. 30 of this year, the Tennessee Valley recorded 75.74 inches of rainfall, marking the wettest fiscal year in the 131 years of recording.
