NEW: Bulls Gap man charged in crime spree in Kingsport’s Lynn Garden indicted on 28 new charges including murder
A man arrested and charged in a crime spree in the Lynn Garden community last week has been indicted by a Sullivan County grand jury on 28 new charges including first-degree murder.
That list of felonies against Michael J. Shelton, 41, of Bulls Gap, also includes especially aggravated robbery, two counts of kidnapping, reckless endangerment, and four counts of aggravated assault.
Police said over the course of several hours on Dec. 7th, Shelton committed a series of crimes at various properties along Lynn Garden but one of the earliest was a home invasion on Clark Avenue where investigators said Shelton shot and killed 60-year-old Gary McMeans.
Shelton remains jailed on a $1 million bond.
