Tennessee continues to recruit volunteers for medical corps while hospitals staffs feel the strain of COVID cases

The Tennessee Department of Health continues to recruit non-medical volunteers as well as trained health professionals for their Medical Reserve Corps.

Several hospitals and other medical facilities across the state continue to use the reserve pool of workers to replenish staff levels that remain strained due to the surge in coronavirus cases.

Responders do not need to have a medical background and some of the positions offer a paycheck, according to state information.

Health Commissioner Dr. Lisa Piercey has noted that new CDC guidelines will allow workers who have tested positive for COVID-19 to return to work as a last resort.
