Police Pursuit In Unicoi County Injures Deputy Suspect Arrested
A suspect is in custody and a Unicoi County Sheriff’s Deputy escapes serious injury after being pinned against his patrol car by a DUI suspect during a police pursuit. Sheriff Mike Hensley says in a post the incident occurred shortly after midnight Tuesday morning when authorities attempted to stop A DUI suspect on Martins Creek to a dead end. The officer attempted to exit his patrol vehicle when the suspect rammed his vehicle into the patrol car pinning the officer against his vehicle. The suspect fled the scene and ran through the Erwin Post Office before crashing his vehicle and coming to a rest at the Erwin Police Department. Following a brief foot pursuit, deputies arrested the so far unidentified suspect who is now facing felony charges and is being housed in the Unicoi County Jail.
