Johnson City Leaders Using TIF Funding To Revitalize Downtown District
Three hundred thousand dollars and a freeze on downtown property taxes at a base rate are two incentives being used by Johnson City leaders in hopes of luring businesses to the Downtown District. County commissioners passed two resolutions that will provide tax increment financing for new projects in Johnson City. Property on North Commerce Street will be redeveloped with the three hundred thousand dollars. Another 95 thousand dollars will be used for a second project to improve accessibility and extend the Tweetsie Railroad near Cherry Street.
