UPDATE: Hawkins Co. Schools heading back to in-person learning Jan. 25, Unicoi Co. Schools to stay all virtual to at least Feb.
Two Northeast Tennessee school systems have made decisions regarding reopening plans.
Hawkins County students who have selected the in-person learning option will head back to the classroom beginning Jan. 25. District director Matt Hixson posted to social media Thursday that schools will hold face-to-face learning Monday-Thursdays, while Friday will be reserved for half-day virtual and targeted small in-person instruction. This does affect students already approved for eLearning or the Hawkins County Virtual Academy.
Meanwhile in Unicoi County, students will have to wait until at least Feb. before an opportunity arises to return to in-person classes. The district school board decided Thursday night to keep the all-virtual learning plan in place to at least Feb. 5. Officials were hoping to return students to the classroom on Jan. 19.
