VDOE: Updated guidance released to school systems to help conduct safe returns to in-person instruction
Virginia’s education department has released updated in-person reopening guidance to school systems.
Included in the 14 page document is recommendations for districts to use the CDC Indicators for Dynamic School Decision-making in assessing risk of virus transmission, a three level chart on impact of the virus in individual schools, and a five step process to guide systems to a decision on whether reopening is possible.
It comes as Gov. Ralph Northam and State Superintendent Dr. James Lane appeared to show support for schools to return to in-person instruction during a COVID-19 address to the state Thursday, as concerns grow about the potential learning losses brought on by the pandemic.
