VPAP: McAuliffe’s war chest for 2021 campaign stacked with $5 million

Campaign finance reports show Democrat Terry McAuliffe has a stacked war chest that’s ready for a 2021 campaign for governor.

Documents provided by the Virginia Public Access Project says the former governor has a considerable fundraising lead over his opponents with more than $5 million on hand.

Former Petersburg delegate and magistrate judge Jennifer Carroll Foy reported $1.2 million as of Dec. 31 while current 9th District Senator Jennifer McClellan has more than $630,000 in her campaign fund.

Delegate Kirk Cox has the most of any Republican gubernatorial candidate with nearly $700,000 in early totals.
