Glenn Youngkin, Pete Snyder among latest candidates to announce Virginia Gov. candidacy
Two more people have put their name in the running for the Republican candidate for next Governor of Virginia.
“We’ve had eight years of failed leadership by Northam, McAuliffe, and the rest of the career politicians. It’s clear we need change. Virginia needs to lead again, and I will lead the way,” said Pete Snyder.
Snyder is a business developer and self-proclaimed conservative political outsider who is launching his campaign on goals to help the state get back on its feet while it deals with pressing issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as a potential economic downturn in Virginia, and sluggish rollout getting the state’s residents vaccinated. But its not just Snyder who wants the GOP nomination.
“Virginia is being tested, but what we need isn’t another politician or worse the same politician. It’s going to take a conservative to stand up to bring a new day to Virginia,” said Glenn Youngkin.
Youngkin is a Virginia Beach and Richmond native, former CEO of the Carlyle Group, and creator of the non-profit employment training initiative VA Ready. Youngkin says he will bring the same dedication serving Virginia residents as he’s had with his 30 years of business experience.
Both men are now among six candidates vying for the nomination, with a primary date yet to be set by Virginia’s Republican party.
