The Virginia Lottery Board received an update about the online sports betting program during a virtual meeting Wednesday, and learned that five books have already started taking wagers since the betting program went live. Below are those books:
*Betfair Interactive US (Fanduel) In conjunction with the Washington Football Team, officially went live January 20th.
*Crown Virginia Gaming (Draft Kings) Officially went live January 24th.
*BetMGM– Officially went live January 27th.
*Portsmouth Gaming Holdings (Rivers Casino Portsmouth) Officially went live January 26th.
*Caesars Virginia– Officially went live January 27th.
25 applicants initially submitted for betting permits, as only 12 spots are available, which do not include partnerships with sports teams like the Fanduel and Washington Football team partnership.
Five total sportsbooks are operating in the state as of today. Casino operators are also permitted to operate sportsbooks, as the Bristol casino’s parent company Hard Rock is among those to have submitted an application.
Casinos in Portsmouth and Danville have already received approval for their sportsbooks.
