NEW: Teachers in Bristol, Kingsport, and Sullivan County scheduled to receive first dose of COVID vaccine next week

A joint statement issued Friday by school districts in Bristol, Kingsport, and Sullivan County said teachers in each of those areas will receive the first shot of COVID vaccine next week.

The instructors will have the choice of taking the first dose on Friday, Feb. 12 or Saturday, Feb. 13. The required second shot will be administered on Friday, March 5 barring any unforeseen problems with vaccine supplies.

In-person student learning will not take place on those dates to help accommodate the vaccine clinics for those teachers, according to the report.
