TN Gov. Lee outlines legislative proposals, budget during State of the State address
TN Gov. Bill Lee is offering Tennesseans a bright outlook into 2021 as the state continues to recover from COVID-19’s effects.
“Tennesseans, transformation will define us. Not tragedy. The state of our state is indeed hopeful,” said Lee.
During his third state of the state address, Gov. Lee outlined key budget and legislative proposals for the fiscal year, and on the budget side, it includes nearly $1 billion in capital maintenance and improvements to infrastructure, $120 million for a 4% percent teacher pay increase, and $150 million in COVID support and relief.

The Governor also praised the state’s response throughout the pandemic, including it’s early efforts to test all nursing homes residents as well as making testing free to everyone across the state. Legislation Lee is also backing includes working to make Tennessee a leader in foster care and adoption as well a renewed push to pass a constitutional carry law this year.
