City of Elizabethton launches survey on ‘Surf Betsy’ project

Work continues on the prospects of establishing a whitewater park in Elizabethton.

Research is underway on Surf Betsy, by the City of Elizabethton, Mainstreet of Elizabethton, MBA students from the ETSU College of Business, the Surf Betsy Advisory Board and our Parks and Recreation Department, who are reaching out to the public to get their input on the project.

Citizens interested in participating in the survey can do so online on the Parks and Recreation’s Facebook page, Downtown Elizabethton’s Facebook page or the Parks and Recreation section on the City of Elizabethton’s website.

If Surf Betsy becomes a reality, it would provide for rafting and kayaking possibly along the Doe and Watauga Rivers. The survey deadline is March 12.
