Virginia Schools Won’t Make Re-Opening Deadline… But Summer School Will
More than likely, schools in Virginia will not make a Governor Ralph Northam declaration to re-open in person school learning by March 15. Northam says he expects, but won’t require, schools to open by the deadline. But a bill approved Wednesday by the House of Delegates would mandate schools open their doors by this summer. Full-time in-person learning is scheduled to begin in the fall. The bill passed in the House by a wide margin and many delegates say evidence shows student performance for this year is down compared with previous years.
