Three people shot at drunken get-together in Wise County

Three people were shot at during a drunken get-together at a Wise County location over the weekend.

Zachery Deel, 28, of St. Paul, is charged with three counts of malicious wounding and two weapons charges after investigators said he came to the gathering on Stone Mountain Road in Coeburn and hit a guest with a stick.

After wrestling away the weapon, Deel then pulled a gun and began shooting at the crowd, hitting three victims. Officers were able to recover the weapon that was thrown into the nearby woods.

The three shooting victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation into the incident is continuing.
