Report: Former Kingsport official skirted conflict of interest regulations to benefit brother-in-law’s construction company
Kingsport’s former Coordinator of Community Development Programs has been indicted on 20 counts of official misconduct following an investigation by the Tennessee Comptroller’s Office.
State prosecutors have accused Mark Haga of authorizing more than $810,000 home repair projects flush with federal dollars for his family and acquaintances by skirting procurement laws while hiring his brother-in-law’s construction company to complete the work.
Haga resigned on January 31st. The state office wrote that Haga was in clear violation of state and federal conflict of interest regulations.
