Johnson City Man’s Shoplifting Charge Upgraded To Evading Arrest And Reckless Driving
A Johnson City man who was attempting to leave a Walmart store following a shoplifting incident, got more than he bargained for when he returned to Walmart. 37 year old Edgardo Vila of 407 West Main Street in Johnson City is charged with the original two counts of shoplifting but now is facing two additional. Police responded to 3111 Browns Mill Road at the Walmart Supercenter on a shoplifting charge. Officers located Vila traveling away from the area at a high rate of speed and initiated a traffic stop. Vila refused to stop and continued traveling, passing numerous cars at a high speed. Vila was finally arrested back at Walmart after police obtained a warrant for his arrest. Vila is now charged with two counts of shoplifting, evading arrest, and reckless driving and was scheduled for an arraignment Monday afternoon.
