Dozens placed in isolation after UT students attend faith-based gathering

A University of Tennessee spokesperson has confirmed a cluster of cases has been identified by health officials that have been traced to a faith-based retreat held last month in Townsend.

A total of 75 people have been cautioned to isolate themselves following the investigation. UT says 67 students attended the event but the school did not name the organization that held the gathering. The report also said that seven students connected to the trip have reported COVID symptoms.

UT Knoxville has dealt with several COVID cluster discoveries since the spring semester started in late January, most of those being classified to Greek housing.
