‘Evelyn’s Law’ passes TN House, heading to Gov. Lee’s desk
Legislation named in the memory of missing Sullivan County toddler Evelyn Boswell is heading to Gov. Bill Lee’s desk.
The TN House joined their Senate colleagues in passing Evelyn Boswell’s Law during a Thursday session by unanimous consent. The house bill, introduced by local Rep. John Crawford, requires parents or guardians to report a missing child 12 years and younger to law enforcement within 24 hours.
Failure to do so could result in a Class A misdemeanor.
Evelyn Boswell was reported missing last Feb. and was the subject of a statewide AMBER Alert before her remains were found on a family member’s property two weeks later. Her mother Megan is facing 19 charges including two counts of felony murder in her disappearance.
