Report: Four of six victims of violent weekend weather in Tennessee died while in their vehicles in flood waters
Tennessee emergency management officials are asking motorists to learn more about flood dangers while driving after four of six victims killed in weekend weather were inside their vehicles.
One of those, Donna Adams, 61, of Surgoinsville, was swept out of one of her car’s windows after the vehicle became submerged in the rising waters of Big Creek in Hawkins County.
Another victim in Cheatham County drowned in his vehicle when police said he ignored flood warning signs and drove into high water.
Rivers and creeks around the Mountain Empire remain at high levels and National Weather Service forecast models have an additional 1 to 2 inches of rain possible in Tennessee and Virginia.
