UPDATE: Man accused of killing mother in 2019 in Carter County pleads guilty to second-degree murder
A Carter County man accused of killing his mother has pleaded guilty to an amended murder charge.
Court records show John Christopher Ralph entered a guilty plea of second-degree murder during a court appearance Thursday and was sentenced to 22 years in prison.
Ralph was originally charged with first degree murder after his mother Edith Ralph was discovered dead at her Reynolds Road home in April of 2019.
Ralph was later arrested at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta.
