Judge schedules trial date to determine damages in Sullivan County Baby Doe lawsuit

A judge in Sullivan County has set a trial date to determine damages in the Baby Doe lawsuit.

Judge E.G Moody set a date for July 26 as plaintiffs in the case seek $2.4B in damages. Moody in a ruling earlier this week issued a default judgment against Endo Pharmaceuticals, saying the company and its attorneys strategized to delayed proceedings as well deprive plaintiffs of information. The Baby Doe case was launched against three pharmaceutical companies in 2017 by local district attorneys claiming the companies contributed to the ongoing opioid epidemic.

A baby born with neonatal abstinence syndrome, a result of a baby being born to a mother addicted to opioids, was also listed as a plaintiff in the case.
