Major Grant Awarded For Energy Storage Project In Southwest Virginia
Four southwest Virginia counties have received nearly a half million dollar grant to be used to create jobs in the Energy Storage and Electrification manufacturing sector. The six point three million dollar Growth and Opportunity for Virginia grant will be used by The Appalachian Voices Energy Storage and Electrification Manufacturing Jobs project and will catalyze a vibrant energy storage and electrification economy in the counties of Buchanan, Dickenson, Russell, and Tazewell. Together with multiple partners, Appalachian Voices, will execute a strategy to build a new, high wage industry cluster around energy storage electrification. The plan is a direct continuation of the Solar Playbook project in 2019 that examined how solar related manufacturing and utility scale solar development could contribute to job creation in southwest Virginia
