Gate City’s Mac McClung focusing on July’s NBA Draft, could make college return

Former Gate City standout Mac McClung has entered the NCAA transfer portal for a second time.

McClung’s exit from Texas Tech comes as head coach Chris Beard leaves Lubbock to become the coach at his alma mater at Texas.

McClung said on social media over the weekend he plans to focus on the NBA Draft in July while keeping his eligibility in play for a potential return to college where he would have two years left due to the pandemic exemption.

McClung’s run in the NCAA tournament last month ended with a second-round loss to Arkansas.
