Report: Jefferson City long-term care office manager stole $44,000
State investigators have uncovered a scheme by a long-term care facility office manager in neighboring Jefferson County that funneled more than $44,000 of TennCare dollars into a bank account.
A report from the State Comptroller’s Office said Tonya Lindsey manipulated payroll software and created a bank account for a fictitious employee for direct deposit payments that were collected for 22 months beginning in 2019.
The office said Lindsey also made unauthorized purchases with company funds for clothing and vape products totaling more than $8,400.
Lindsey, who was fired in October, was indicted by a grand jury this month and charged with one count of theft over $10,000 and 25 counts of forgery.
