“Untold Tennessee” announced as theme for Tennessee’s 225th year of statehood celebration
Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee has announced a theme for the state’s year long celebration of 225 years of statehood.
“Untold Tennessee” will give residents an opportunity to submit unknown stories that showcases areas of Tennessee they call home that include a local pastime, a place, tradition, person, or folklore.
Lee will begin a year long 95-county tour of the state and celebration of statehood on June 1 by visiting Bicentennial Mall in Nashville and the Blount Mansion in Knoxville.
“Since 1796, Tennessee has been the portrait of perseverance, character and hope because of everyday heroes,” said Gov. Lee. “As we reflect on 225 years of statehood, I encourage Tennesseans to join us on the road and share their untold stories of people, places and events that have shaped our state since its beginning.”
