Kingsport YMCA hoping to meet fundraising goal during Week of Giving
The YMCA of Greater Kingsport’s week of giving is underway.
The YMCA chapter is working to meet the needs of the community after a challenging 2020 brought on by the pandemic. Officials are hoping to reach a goal of $20,000 that will go towards different programs they support include the following:
*YMCA Feeding Program– This program serves children meals Monday-Friday that follows the USDA regulations for nutrition. The YMCA hopes to expand from giving out 300 meals to 500 meals as part of its Afterschool and Y on Wheels locations.
*Camp and Afterschool Scholarship– These scholarships give kids an opportunity to attend the YMCA’s Afterschool and Summer camps.
*Active & Ageless Y on Wheels– This program delivers basic necessities, structured activities, and programs at homes of seniors, and those 55 and older in the community.
*Parkinson’s Programing– This group provides support to individuals in the community that live with Parkinson’s which includes special Parkinson’s Cycle classes and Parkinson’s Support Groups.
*Special Needs Programing– This program is designed for those with special needs 18+ to engage in physical and creative activities. The YMCA has a goal to construct an adaptive playground to support the relaunch of this program.
