Kingsport man accused of assaulting ex, racks up numerous charges after leading police on high speed chase
A Kingsport man has been charged with multiple offenses, including aggravated assault and felony evading arrest.
32 year old Michael Allen Ellis allegedly attempted to drag his ex-girlfriend into his truck Monday morning. After the woman escaped, Ellis lead police on a high speed chase.
The Gate City woman told Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Billy Begley that Ellis started “talking out of his head” and when her friends told him to leave—Ellis grabbed her by the shirt and neck and began dragging her to his truck. He then allegedly threw her into the truck and tossed her phone into the river.
From there, Ellis lead police on a high speed chase. He eventually abandoned his truck and was found hiding in a ditch.
Ellis is being charged with evading arrest, reckless endangerment, driving on a revoked license 6th offense, two stop sign violations, no insurance, failure to stop for blue lights, aggravated assault. Prior, he had a pending fugitive from justice warrant as well.
