Appalachian State to host memorial services for fallen Watauga County officers

Memorial services have been scheduled to honor the two policemen killed in the line of duty last week in Boone, North Carolina.

The ceremony for Watauga County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Chris Ward and K-9 Officer Logan Fox will take place at Appalachian State University’s Holmes Convocation Center this Thursday at 3 p.m. with doors opening at 1 p.m. Masks will be required in order to attend the service.

Superintendent Scott Elliott said county schools will dismiss early to allow students and faculty the opportunity to attend the event. He noted that Ward and Fox were both active in visiting and participating in activities involving the youth of the community.
