Virginia’s JLARC group keeping a close eye on unemployment benefit delays
A General Assembly advisory council says they hope to sort out continued problems with Virginia residents receiving unemployment benefits.
The Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission plans to receive answers of claim processing prior to the scheduled review of the Virginia Employment Commission comes due in November.
The pandemic brought a vast increase in benefit requests but the commission was saddled with outdated equipment and other problems. Last month, Virginia ranked last in unemployment claim recoveries according to a WalletHub study.
