Two dead following crash in Southwest Virginia
Two people are dead following a single-car crash in Southwest Virginia over the weekend.
A report from the Virginia State Police said the wreck occurred Saturday just after midnight when a car driven by Christopher S. Fugitt of Hillsville, crossed the centerline on Route 52 in Carroll County then ran off the left side of the highway.
The vehicle then hit an embankment, overturned, and hit a tree. Fugitt was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the car, Jarrett L. Hand, 48, of Hickory, North Carolina, also died at the site of the crash.
