Miyares selected by GOP convention voters as Attorney General candidate
The Republican Party of Virginia selected Virginia Beach Delegate Jason Miyares as its candidate for November’s race for Attorney General.
The vote was reportedly narrow between Miyares and former GOP chairman Chuck Smith after votes were tabulated in the party’s convention that was held in more than 30 locations across the commonwealth.

Democrats will select their candidates next month. Recent polling conducted by Christopher Newport University shows incumbent Mark Herring with a large lead over challenger Jay Jones despite Governor Ralph Northam’s official endorsement of the Norfolk delegate.
