Whitetop Creek Park vaccine site closing Friday; SCHD to begin offering vaccine strike teams and at-home vaccinations
Friday is the final day to get your COVID-19 vaccine at Whitetop Creek Park in Bristol.
The Sullivan County Regional Health Department will be at this vaccination site one more day from 9 a.m-3 p.m., before it closes. Beginning Tuesday May 25, health officials will give shots at the Blountville Health Department. The department will administer Pfizer vaccine doses to anyone 12 years and older each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., while Johnson & Johnson doses will be given to anyone 18 and older.
Appointments can be made by calling the health department at 423-279-2777 and walk-ins are welcome. Anyone under 18 will need their parents permission to receive a vaccine.
SCHD is also finding new ways to help the region get vaccinated against COVID-19. The department is offering to deploy strike teams for administering doses at local churches, businesses, and other organizations. For those interested, they can schedule a strike team to come to a particular location and provide COVID-19 vaccines.
In-home vaccinations are now being offered for people that are unable to leave due to physical or medical reasons. Anyone who qualifies for in-home vaccinations can call the Sullivan County Health Department to schedule an appointment or email at CovidVaccines@sullivanhealth.org. If you email, they ask you include name, address, age, phone number, and if there is a home health affiliation for the individual that will be vaccinated.
The department will offer a choice between Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson for in-home vaccinations.
