NEW: Officer-involved shooting reported at Bristol Virginia motel in Exit 10 area
The Virginia State Police is now in charge of an investigation based in Bristol, Virginia Exit 10 area following an officer-involved shooting Thursday morning.
Washington County Virginia Sheriff’s Office Major Scott Snapp said their deputies were called to assist Bristol city police at a call at Economy Inn off Lee Highway just after 10 a.m.
Snapp said the original call involved a protective order and a male suspect inside a room on the motel’s north side. He noted that the suspect also had a weapon in the room. Snapp did not provide a condition of the suspect.
State Police specialists were expected to continue processing evidence throughout the afternoon.
The officer also said the incident was isolated and there was no further threat to the public.
