Bristol couple treated for serious injuries in NC following Sunday house fire

An elderly Bristol, Virginia couple is being treated for serious burn injuries following a house fire late Sunday.

Information from the city’s fire department said they were alerted to the blaze just before midnight at a dwelling on Holly Lane. The two people were rescued from inside the structure that had one room gutted as well as the front exterior of the home.

Department officials said the couple has been transported from a Bristol hospital to the burn unit at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Their injuries were classified as life-threatening.
