Dozens of rescue teams converge in Hawkins County to find dementia patient
More than a dozen agencies converged in Hawkins County early Monday to help in the search for a missing man.
A report from the county rescue squad said search teams were dispatched just before 5 am to help in the recovery of Richard Trout, 79, a dementia patient who could not be located in his home area around Carters Valley.
Foot and air patrols from Wings Air Rescue deployed workers into the area but it was K9 Officer Kota from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office who was able to track and then located Trout in wooded acreage near the home.
Trout was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.
