Scott County school leaders and supervisors to hold discussion on teacher salaries
The Scott County, Virginia Board of Supervisors plan to have more discussions with public school officials to try and give teachers a 5 percent pay raise.
The county lawmakers have given approval for a partial increase but Delegate Terry Kilgore says the locality might be the only one in Virginia that would not seek the additional state dollars to use for the raise that also requires a local dedication of funding.
Supervisor chairman Danny Mann has also asked the school board to consider reducing the number of students from neighboring Tennessee. The board is currently considering an enrollment fee or tuition for those students.
