Kingsport animal hospital investigated by DOJ, DEA for federal violations of Controlled Substance Act
The US Department of Justice has confirmed a two-year investigation has concluded into the operations of a Kingsport animal treatment facility.
A report from the DOJ says Andes-Straley Veterinary Hospital had violated the Controlled Substance Act resulting in a $70,000 civil penalty that has already been paid by owner Gary C. Andes.
The DEA and TBI were also a part of the review that involved Andes and the hospital manager who was not named in the report. The violations included improper recording keeping of controlled substances and failure to report the theft of those drugs.
