Southwest Virginia school systems will soon have the ability to implement local policies, for school operations, during the pandemic as thousands of children prepare to return to the classroom. Virginia Governor Ralph Northam says the local decisions should be based on community level conditions and public health recommendations. Northam, is urging but will not require students to wear masks as the pandemic takes a turn for the worst with the wide open assault of the Delta Variant now making its way through the country. A statewide public health order that had mandated masking in schools comes to an end Sunday. Giving school systems in southwest Virginia a stronger imput when it comes to administering local policies concerning COVID-19.
