Tennessee takes top spot for highest average sales tax

There is a new leader for the highest average sales tax in the country.

Tennessee took over the top spot from Louisiana, with an average local and state combined sales tax rate at 9.46 percent, according to the Tax Foundation.

Louisiana sits close behind in second, only .01 percent behind Tennessee’s, with a 9.45 average sales tax rate.
