VHSL scoring legend Mac McClung of Gate City signs training camp contract with Lakers

Gate City’s Mac McClung will have four games in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas to showcase his talents for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The storied franchise signed the VHSL state champ to a training camp contract following the NBA Draft. McClung decided to forgo his final year of eligibility at Texas Tech for a shot that could have him playing alongside LeBron James and newly acquired Russell Westbrook.

McClung worked out for the Lakers two weeks ago for an evaluation. Summer league play begins next Sunday.
