International underwater robotics competition continues at ETSU
East Tennessee State University is the host of this year’s MATE ROV World Championship competition. This is an underwater robotics competition where over thirty student teams from across the globe go head to head. Competing teams designed and built original submarine robotic vehicles that can be used to perform tasks underwater. This week’s world championship at ETSU consists of the performance and demonstration of these robotic vehicles. Teams will go one at a time as they use their ROV’s to perform certain tasks underwater. The competition takes place at ETSU’s indoor pool. This is the first time ETSU has competed in this competition. Team members say they are proud to represent the school and our region in this international championship.
