Ballad Health: 201 COVID patients, ICU at 95 percent capacity
At a weekly COVID update briefing, officials with one of the region’s healthcare providers said nearly 90 percent of their patients in treatment for COVID were unvaccinated.
Ballad Health Chief Operating Officer Eric Deaton also said that a higher percentage of ventilators are currently in use in this Delta variant wave than when the system had record census numbers in the winter due to the virus.
Deaton also said their ICU units are at 95 percent capacity while staffing shortages are being filled with retirees agreeing to come back and work. As a whole, Ballad’s family of medical care units is caring for 201 patients.
