Governor: Four major Tennessee cities to accept evacuees from Afghanistan
Governor Lee’s office has confirmed that more than 400 people evacuated from Afghanistan will be flown to Tennessee in the coming weeks.
The state is accommodating individuals and families at the request of the Biden administration. In return, Lee said he will ask for full transparency from the president’s office in the plans for the refugees.
Preliminary information says the groups will be divided among four major Tennessee cities—Knoxville, Nashville, Memphis, and Chattanooga—with some residing in facilities provided by faith-based groups.
