VDOT to present public information session on proposed Interstate 81 improvements
The Virginia Department of Transportation has scheduled a public information session for later this month to detail a proposed widening and extension of Interstate 81 in Bristol.
The proposal includes widening three lanes of 81 southbound from mile marker 8.1 to 9.7 and the extension of the northbound merge lane at Exit 7.
Those southbound lanes currently handle a traffic count of 22,000 vehicles per day.
The public meeting is scheduled for Oct. 21st at Holiday Inn Convention Center in Bristol, Virginia. The plans are available for review online by clicking here.
