Tractor Trailer Accident Claims Life Of Texas Woman On Interstate 81

Virginia State Police tell us this afternoon, a person has died from injuries sustained in tractor trailer crash that occurred last week on Interstate 81 in Washington County,Virginia. VSP say 76 year old Jeffie N. Barbee of Austin, Texas died from her injuries when the driver of a tractor trailer traveling north on 81fell asleep behind the wheel while parked on the shoulder of the interstate. The tractor trailer drifted backwards and entered the travel lanes, ran off the side of the road and struck a guardrail. That’s when Barbee’s 2015 mini cooper struck the trailer portion of the tractor trailer. 64 year old Dale R. Allen of Covington, Kentucky and the driver of the tractor trailer was not injured,but was charged with reckless driving.
